Petrinja towards Donji Kukuruzari

We drove towards Sisak and from there we went to Petrinja and took the road towards Donji Kukuruzari. The landscape is beautiful; lots of small hills and valleys. Some of the villages are completly renewed and the houses look very nice. Especially the tradional wooden houses which somewhat look like Swiss challets but quite a bit smaller and narrow without the typical large balcony.
In a couple of villages the situation remains that there are quite a lot of ruins and a couple of renewed houses. I spoke to some guys who were chopping wood for their fireplace. One of them told me that an old neighbour past away after just rebuilding his house. He didn't have any relatives so it's really hard to say what will happen to the house. He guessed it will probably become a ruin again after a while. His own house is still in the making. Without money they are all trying to make the best out of it.

New pictures from Zagreb towards Sunja and Hrvatska Kostajnica

Today was a rainy day. I travelled from Zagreb and worked from Sisak towards Sunja and Hrvatske Kostajnice and photographed the many ruins which are still standing.

Second day Jasenovac

Yesterday I went back to Jasenovac to complete the picture series. There were a few people around the village and a couple of kids playing.

Arrived in Zagreb / Photographed in Jasenovac

This week I arrived in Zagreb. I must say it's a wonderful and inspiring city.

Yesterday the first trip was made to photograph around Sisak working towards Jasenovac which is near the Bosnian border. Bellow you'll find the new ruins for the database.
Jasenovac is a small village which is known because of the concentration camps in WO II. There are people living there but half of the village is still destroyed.
Tomorrow my starting point will be Jasenovac and I'll drive down to Hrvatska Kostajnica and Bosanska Kostajnica. A small town on the Croatian and Bosnian border.

Works - a week before the exhibition

Yesterday I decided that I'm going to add a small portrait of
two people I met during my last trip.
It's a couple from Serbia, they used to work and live in the
area of Stankovci. He was a truck driver, driving allong the
coast back and forth to Dubrovnik.
They told me that they worked all summer long to pay an aluminium
door to their house. They want to come back but in winter it's
to cold for them to stay and they leave for Beograd. All of their
children live there. Their house is partially renovated by the
EU project. Only 45 m2 of what used to be 150 m2. Her mother
came with them to, they take care of her. They are sad that their
house still isn't finished and that it costs so much money to
finish it. But they are also happy to be back.
